Get to Know Me

Hi! My name is Loriaunna Sanchez and I am currently enrolled as a sophomore at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF). I came to Fairbanks from Seattle Washington and the main reason behind my move was to continue my academics, majoring in biology while playing the game I love, basketball, here at UAF. Back home, I have three older brothers, my mom and my dad... a handful for sure but most definitely all worth it. I've always been the one to put God and my family first so spending with them is always meaningful. When it comes to my future and the path I want to go down, I didn't know what I wanted to do specifically, but did know that working in the medical field was at the top of my list. After a couple years of thinking, right now my goal is to become a Registered Nurse. Outside of school and basketball, I generally spend my time alone watching Hulu, Netflix, sleeping and of course, eating. I also tend to spend time with friends. I enjoy going out and seeing new things and I am always willing to try new foods. I am a very spontaneous yet organized person and I always try to find a purpose in everything I do.

A photograph that I find appealing

I personally think that without music, my life would be scattered. Music allows me to express myself in many ways. It also has the power to help me get through good and bad times. Growing up I played two instruments, the clarinet was my very first and then I went on and learned how to play the alto saxophone. Playing these instruments alone allowed me to understand music differently because, I was the one playing the songs. You feel it through your whole body. My music taste varies depending on what type of mood I am in or what mood I want to be in. On a pretty broad spectrum, the genres I generally lean towards are R&B, Hip-Hop/Rap, Soul, and Pop (certain artists). I have ended a few concerts growing up and being there live rather than listening in your headphones just seems too good to be true. When there are events and music is involved, I enjoy being present because it allows you and those around you to feel more free and comfortable.
